OCQ(V) - GX (Germinal Products Exports)

The OCQ(V) - GX (Germinal Products Exports)* (Previous  Panel 1n – Export of Semen and Embryos) is for vets applying for training as an OV authorised to sign Export Health Certificates related to the export of germinal products and associated OV work in AI Centre supervision. OVs authorised to undertake this work are required to provide advice to clients in compliance with the requirements of current legislation, professional guidelines and APHA/EU/third country procedures.
 
Topics covered include:
  1. Procedures and requirements for the export of germinal products with particular reference to variation of procedural and documentary requirements related to country of destination, transit counties and species and their relevance to the Authorised Veterinarian and/or OV.
  2. Legal, professional and APHA requirements and procedures relevant to the Authorised Veterinarian/OV undertaking export certification for germinal products – including detailed consideration of species-specific requirements.
  3. The legal and professional responsibilities of the Authorised Veterinarian/OV relating to safeguarding the welfare of donor animals entering and/or residing within germinal product establishments.
  4. The development of skills required for the resolution of queries/problems relevant to the export of germinal products.
  5. Familiarisation with Defra, APHA and other websites providing relevant information to refresh knowledge.

Please note: before applying for OCQ(V) - GX training, you are required to complete OCQ(V) - ES and OCQ(V) - EX, as these are both prerequisites for this qualification.


You are required to undergo revalidation for OCQ(V) - GX every 4 years.

To comply with new EU legislation, the name ‘Germplasm’ has changed to ‘Germinal Products’. The course content remains the same, it is only the title that has changed.
