Exports permitted with OCQ(V) - SX

(1) F1 hybrids are the first cross of a domestic cat with a wild cat or a domestic dog with a wolf.
(2) INCLUDING bees.
(3) EXCEPT poultry. Poultry is defined as: fowl, turkeys, guinea fowl, ducks, geese, quail, pigeons, pheasants, partridges and ratites, reared or kept in captivity for breeding, the production of meat or eggs for consumption, or for re-stocking supplies of game.
OVs who hold the OCQ(V) - SX can also obtain OV66 authorisation by completing an OV65 form. Further information about this process can be found in Briefing Note 33/24. All relevant documents and guidance in the OV Instructions can be found via this link.
Overview of training for OCQ(V) - SX
The training for the OCQ(V) - SX is all provided online. Topics covered include:
- Procedures and requirements for the export of both private and commercial small animals, including the export of zoo and laboratory animals (except ungulates) and pet birds, with particular reference to variation of procedural and documentary requirements related to country of destination and species
- Procedures and requirements for the export of commercially-traded small animals, with particular reference to variation of procedural and documentary requirements related to premises of origin, country and premises of destination and species
- The legal, professional and APHA requirements and procedures relevant to OVs undertaking export certification for companion animals, pet birds and commercially-traded small animals and the preparation of dogs, cats and ferrets as pets
- The legal and professional responsibilities of OVs relating to safeguarding the welfare of small animals and pet birds presented for export
- Familiarisation with Defra, APHA, RCVS and other websites providing relevant information to refresh knowledge
Please note: before applying for the OCQ(V) - SX course, you are required to hold the OCQ(V) - ES and OCQ(V) - EX qualifications, as these are both prerequisite courses for the OCQ(V) - SX.
Revalidation of OCQ(V) - SX
You are required to undergo revalidation for OCQ(V) - SX every four years.
