OCQ(V) - TT (Tuberculin Testing)

The OCQ(V) - TT (Tuberculin Testing) (Previous Panels 1a TB and 6b TB Testing of Deer) is for vets applying for training to undertake TB testing of cattle and other species. TB testing is undertaken on behalf of the APHA and OVs also carry out pre-movement and private testing and provide advice to farmers related to the disease and its control. All work must be undertaken in compliance with the requirements of the current TB legislation and the APHA procedures. 
 
Topics covered include:
  1. Essential background information relating to TB, relevant to the responsibilities and role of an OV undertaking TB testing of cattle and other species.
  2. Detailed procedural training related to TB testing with specific reference to the APHA OV Instructions for TB and SOPs, including hygiene, biosecurity and health and safety requirements.
  3. Clarification of the legal and professional responsibilities of all vets in relation to compliance with the 10 Principles of Certification, avoidance of conflicts of interest, protection of animal welfare and the management of suspect notifiable disease.
  4. Familiarisation with Defra*, APHA and other websites providing relevant information to refresh knowledge.

*Defra, APHA, Welsh Assembly Government (WAG), the Scottish Government, whichever is/are appropriate to the area in which you are working.

Please note: before applying for OCQ(V) - TT training you are required to have completed the OCQ(V) - ES (Essential Skills).

Once you have completed the initial online training section of the OCQ(V) - TT course and passed the online exam, you will be required to undergo a practical training phase and then a Practical Assessment.


You are required to undergo revalidation for OCQ(V) - TT every 4 years.
