Which OCQ (V) Modules do I need for my intended OV work area(s)?

To be appointed for your requested OV work area you will need valid OCQ (V) Modules as specified below: (Required - Y; Not required - N)

NB Valid OCQ (V) Modules are defined as those:

  • Granted to existing OVs through Grandfather rights or
  • Those for which appropriate OCQ (V) training has been successfully completed in the order stated below and
  • Successfully revalidated in compliance with revalidation requirements

Definitions

Captive Birds

Definition in EC Directive 2009/158  – 'Types of birds (except poultry as defined below) usually kept as a hobby, for pleasure, scientific interest or sport, including racing pigeons and birds of prey'

Equidae

Horses, ponies, donkeys, zebras, asses and mules

Live Fish and Fish Products

All live fish, molluscs (including shellfish,excluding snails), eggs and gametes of fish, fishery products (including shrimps, crabs etc)

Germplasm

Semen, Ova and Embryos of all species

Hatching Eggs

Definition in EC Directive 2009/158  – 'Eggs for incubation, laid by poultry' (see below)

Pet Birds

Pet birds are all species of birds (except poultry i.e. fowl, turkeys, guinea fowl, ducks, geese, quails, pigeons, partridges and ratites)) which are accompanied by their owners, or by another person directly responsible for them on behalf of the owner during their movement and are not intended to be sold or transferred to another owner

PHS

Poultry Health Scheme - a system of registration and approval enabling establishments to comply with the requirements of Council Directive 2009/158/EC, thereby ensuring they are eligible to trade.

Poultry

Definition as in EC Directive 2009/158 – 'Fowl, turkeys, guinea fowl, ducks, geese, quail, pigeons, pheasants, partridges and ratites, reared or kept in captivity for breeding, the production of meat or eggs for consumption, or for re-stocking suppliers of game'

Products of Animal Origin

Products of animal origin - include, but are not limited to meat, dairy, pharmaceuticals, hides, skins, medicine, pet food

Psittacines

Members of the parrot group which includes budgies, lories, conures, parakeets, lovebirds, cockatiels, parrots and macaws.

The equine export qualification OCQ(V) – EQ is now available. Specialist Equine OVs who hold OCQ(V) – UX can select either UX OR EQ at revalidation. Please contact Improve International on 0330 202 0380 if you would like to be transferred from UX to EQ for your revalidation.
